Julie Kim is a Korean-American painter living and working between New Jersey and New York City. In intimate paintings of love, partnership, and introspection, she recollects and assembles fragments of her memory with imagined fiction, suspending fleeting moments into an infinite present. At once a personal memoir and a reflection of collective experience, her work unfolds complex emotions, desire, and the innate tenderness within humans, and illuminates the preciousness of the now. Her visual storytelling is interwoven with her writing practice which includes poetry and short stories on memory, nature, and relationships. Julie graduated from Columbia University in 2023 with a BFA in Visual Arts and has exhibited in a duo booth at Scope Art Fair Miami, participated in group shows in New York City, and completed an artist residency at the International Artists Resident Exchange in Saint-Raphaël, France.
