Born in Tokyo, Akari Uragami explores human existence working primarily with oil paintings and soft sculptures using natural materials and textiles.She attempts to deconstruct and reconstruct the image of humanity, drawing from her own day-to-day experiences and observing human ecology objectively, aiming to shed new light on human form and interaction.Uragami earned her bachelor's degree in textiles from Musashino Art University, where she immersed herself in the art of traditional Japanese dyeing techniques. Her dedication earned her the Outstanding Graduate Award, and this deep connection to tradition subtly informs her modern practice.Her art has been in group exhibitions at Musashino Art University Museum & Library (Tokyo, Japan), PARCO MUSEUM TOKYO (Tokyo, Japan), Compound Yucca Valley (CA, USA), matamoros404 (Oaxaca, Mexico) along with solo exhibitions at LAIDBUG (Tokyo, Japan) and K Art Gallery (Tokyo, Japan).
